What we believe

Core Values

Hold Elected Officials Accountable      This is a government of the people by the people and for the people  only if we the people hold politicians accountable.

Uphold the Constitution   The United States Constitution protects the people from government and not the other way around.

Limited Government Government is intended to be limited in what they can do and how big it can grow. The more government interference in our lives the less freedom we have.

Fiscal Responsibility Our government must be responsible with our tax dollars and not spend money they don’t have.

Support Free Markets It is critical that our employers are free to do business with each other and us. Without free markets no one is free. Government that tries to control business controls the people.

Congress should not function outside of their authority enshrined within the (Enumerated Powers of the U.S. Constitution)

Section 8 – Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings; And

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

What We Believe

‘The sacred  fire of liberty  is in the people’s hands’

“The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government, are justly considered deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.”  –George Washington, First Inaugural Address, 1789

We The People Ohio Valley will meet on the first Thursday of each month to discuss issues of the day and learn about news not covered by the media.

Our voice is heard when we show up. As Thomas Jefferson famously said, “We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”

Every voice matters, showing up at meetings speaks clearly.
If you haven’t been there in a while you are missing something good.
Next meeting is Thursday, February 7th, 2018 at the Mall 6:30 PM
Ohio Valley Mall Community Room in Saint Clairsville, Ohio.
  O

Members please bring a friend and If you are not a member already, please join us the first Thursday of each month at the Ohio Valley Mall Community Room.

Besides covering the issues of the day, we attempt to educate our members and the public about what it means to be an American citizen. By defending our Constitution and maintaining the American vision, we strive to make our Valley, our States and our Nation better for us all.

     Politicians work everyday to divide the American people by gender, race, sexual orientation, age, political party affiliation and other divisive tactics. Politicians try to put the American people into these political categories to divide and control us while they stay in power.

Who are we?

      We the People—Ohio Valley is a non-partisan, grassroots organization that does not endorse any candidate or political party.
We are an education and legislation driven organization and speak to government decisions that affect every American. Both parties had a hand in getting this Country into our current financial mess and have forgotten who they work for.

Standing Up For America

     We believe the American people can take back their government by avoiding partisan politics and demanding that every office holder follow the constitution and stop the immoral practice of spending our children and grand children’s future.

     Sadly, main stream media news outlets no longer act as watch dogs over the political class, instead many of them now advocate for Progressive policies and politicians. These activist Journalists are not aware that after they help take our freedoms and liberty away, they too will have to relinquish their own liberties.

What Can You Do?

“The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.”      Thomas Jefferson

     There are many things you can do to get involved in saving America from the precipitous slide into Socialism that is happening at breathtaking speed.

     You can join We The People Ohio Valley (WTPOV) and help out in many ways. In their book, Rules for Conservative Radicals, Dr. David L. Goetsch and Dr. Archie P. Jones outline strategies that will give you the tools you need to make a difference. (WTPOV) agree with these strategies and implement them whenever we can. Below you will find the Strategies for saving America from statism, socialism and nanny government:

1. Advocate for limited government – Local control is what the constitution calls for.

2. Support initiatives to lower taxes.

3. Insist on a free-market economy.

4. Support only those policies that encourage individual liberty.

5. Support only those policies that encourage personal responsibility.

6. Speak out on behalf of military preparedness and a strong national defense.

7. Commit to restoring constitutional sovereignty and integrity.

Did You Know

The United States Constitution established a federal government, but with limited and enumerated powers, and reserved to the states or to the people those powers not granted to the federal government. One power that properly belongs at the state level is the power to regulate Health Care. However, the federal government has preempted state action in this area. It is our responsibility to return these powers to the people at the State level.T
